Q.ANTUM Technology Redefining maximum output

Q.ANTUM Technology is the optimization turbo charger for conventional poly- and mono-crystalline solar cells and solar modules. Other than with expensive high-end solar modules, Q.ANTUM does not require an elaborate new design of the cell. No special installations are needed.

Q.ANTUM was developed to deliver maximum performance under real-life conditions – even under low radiation during dusk and dawn and under cloudy skies, but also on clear hot summer days as well as in autumn and winter when the sun does not rise high above the horizon.

This is why we have optimized all performance criteria relevant for real-life operation, for example, the low-light performance and the temperature coefficient in order to increase the efficiency of the cells and by this your yield and profit rather than optimizing test values produced in laboratory tests.


Q.ANTUM physics More light. More performance. More electricity.

Don’t maximize, OPTIMIZE. The rear surfaces of Q.ANTUM solar cells are treated with a special Nano coating that functions much like a typical household mirror. Rays of sunlight that would otherwise go to waste are reflected back through the cell to generate more electricity. Laser-fired contacts complement the Nano coating to enhance the module’s electrical properties, increasing its efficiency considerably.

Q.ANTUM history Research. Development. Production.

Top production performance: In 2011, Q.ANTUM technology hit a world record for crystalline solar cells with an efficiency of 19.5 %. Since 2012, Q CELLS introduced Q.ANTUM to series production making solar modules with the highest performance class available.

The PHOTON module tests in 2013 and 2014 assessed the solar module Q.PRO-G2 235 best of all tested poly-crystalline solar modules. The top line of the current module Q.PLUS BFR-G4.1 from the series 2016 is fitted with the Q.ANTUM technology and delivers high efficiency. It even outscores all relevant performance and yield values of the PHOTON winner module.

Performance has never looked this good

The Q.ANTUM DUO technology developed by Q CELLS is based on our original Q.ANTUM Technology and further cell separation technology with round wires. Three additional technologies further augmented to original Q.ANTUM Technology came up with a result of the state of art Q.ANTUM DUO Technology The 6 busbar, half-cell, and wire interconnection delivered not only the superior performance but also overwhelming aesthetic look of the modules. The Q.ANTUM DUO Technology reduces both electrical and optical losses, respectively, by halving the current passing through each cell and making use of incident light more effectively.

Busbar Technology

Reduced distance in between the busbars and additional paths for electric current results in 1% power increase. More paths means lower congestion which in return reduces resitive losses.


Half cell technology Halving the cell halves the current

Combined with a module layout which reduces the distance travelled by the electric current results in an increase of power by 3%.


Wire connection

Utilizing wires instead of flat ribbons reduces both the width and the effective shading width decreasing shading by 75% and increasing the power by 2.5%. The light reflected from the round shape of the wires improves the light capturing effect of the module.

Light-induced degradation (LID) is created by instable boron oxygen compounds. These can be found in all p-type solar cells. The exposition of this type of solar cells to sunlight leads to a substantial drop of performance of up to 6 %. Hanwha Q CELLS' Q.ANTUM Technology is designed to stabilize boron oxygen compounds in order to minimize light-induced degradation. This makes our Q.ANTUM solar modules more efficient than modules which are not fitted with Q.ANTUM technology.
